Delivery Manager

For our client, a software development specialist in the Ghent area, we are looking for an experienced Delivery Manager who will work alongside the Solution Manager and take responsibility for the effective and efficient delivery of the project.

Where the Solution Manager mainly determines what needs to be built and why, you make sure when, how and in what order the work gets done.

You bring structure to the planning, monitor progress together with the developers, identify risks and dependencies, and make sure issues are resolved on time. At the same time, you safeguard quality, keep a close eye on what is happening internally, and make potential problems visible early — before they become real problems.

You will also have regular contact with clients. You communicate clearly about progress, expectations and possible changes, and you are confident and diplomatic enough to professionally explain and defend decisions such as a shifted deadline.

Your key responsibilities

• Create and manage the project planning.
• Follow up on delivery together with the developers on a daily basis.
• Identify, assess and follow up on risks.
• Detect dependencies between teams, systems and deliverables.
• Log, prioritise and follow up on issues until resolution.
• Identify problems and risks early and escalate internally when needed.
• Safeguard quality and agreed deliverables.
• Plan and follow up on unit testing.
• Prepare, schedule and facilitate demo sessions.
• Report transparently on progress and potential blockers.
• Align with the Solution Manager on priorities, scope and feasibility.
• Communicate regularly with clients about progress, expectations and planning.
• Lead client discussions when timing, scope or approach needs to be adjusted.
• Communicate with developers, the Business Developer and other relevant stakeholders.

• Comfortable working closely with technical teams.
• Result-oriented: “almost done” is not the same as “delivered”.
• Collaborative: you support the team without micromanaging.

Key knowledge and skills

• Proven experience as a Delivery Manager, Project Manager or in a similar delivery role within software development.
• Strong experience in project planning, progress tracking and delivery management.
• Experience with risk, issue and dependency management.
• Experience with software quality assurance and test planning.
• Strong people skills and experience in client-facing roles.
• Strong stakeholder management skills and sufficient maturity to critically challenge decisions, assumptions, planning and feasibility at both business and development level.
• Able to communicate difficult messages clearly and professionally, for example when deadlines or scope change.
• Sufficient technical knowledge to collaborate effectively with developers.
• Big plus: knowledge of React.js.
• Big plus: knowledge of Node.js.
• Affinity with modern software development and Agile ways of working.
• Experience with AI applications, particularly Claude and OpenAI.
